An emergency plan has been activated at Safi’s Mohammed V Hospital to receive the injured following the sudden torrential rains that hit the province this Sunday, announced Khalid Iazza, the hospital director.

In a statement to MAP, he explained that the plan mobilizes medical staff, nurses, and administrative personnel, and also ensures the availability of all necessary human and logistical resources. He added that the hospital had already allocated 50 beds for such cases, with the capacity to expand to other departments if needed.

“All necessary equipment is available,” he confirmed, including a CT scanner, radiology and ultrasound machines, and blood tests, as well as logistical essentials such as bedding and other supplies.

“No shortage has been recorded in terms of emergency response at the hospital,” he noted.

It was also noted that this mobilization involved recalling five doctors from the emergency department, two anesthesiologists, one orthopedic surgeon, and one neurosurgeon. It was also noted that this mobilization involved recalling five doctors from the emergency department, two anesthesiologists, one orthopedic surgeon, and one neurosurgeon.

The emergency services received a total of 61 cases by 6 p.m. on Sunday, two of whom were admitted to intensive care; their health remains stable so far, Iazza continued. 18 other patients suffering from severe hypothermia were hospitalized.

The hospital director explained that the cases seen this morning were in good health, noting that 13 patients had been discharged, while five others continue their treatment, in addition to two patients in intensive care whose condition is stable and who are expected to leave the unit either tonight or tomorrow.

“The situation is under control thanks to the hospital’s state of readiness and mobilization, which made it possible to provide all necessary healthcare services to the patients,” he concluded.
