QNET Not Behind Job Scams or Trafficking: Criminal Syndicates Abusing Brand, Says Company

QNET Not Behind Job Scams or Trafficking: Criminal Syndicates Abusing Brand, Says Company

QNET firmly rejects recent claims made in the Parliament of Ghana by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, suggesting that the 400 Ghanaians recently repatriated from Nigeria and other West African countries – along with the estimated 700 more still abroad – were trafficked by QNET.

These allegations are not only false but also deeply disappointing, especially coming just days after QNET launched a landmark anti-scam partnership with Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to fight fraud and human trafficking committed in the company’s name by criminal networks.

QNET is a legitimate global direct selling company offering lifestyle and wellness products through a transparent and ethical business model. It is not engaged in trafficking or any illegal recruitment activity.

QNET and EOCO: United Against Fraud

QNET’s Regional General Manager for Sub-Saharan Africa, Mr. Biram Fall, stated: “Barely 10 days ago, we publicly launched two significant initiatives in Accra – a strategic partnership with EOCO to fight scams misusing our brand, and the opening of our Compliance Office in Ghana. These efforts were widely reported across Ghana and West Africa, and were attended by top officials from EOCO and the Ghana Police Service. It is therefore deeply troubling that despite these efforts, outdated narratives continue to be repeated in Parliament.”

QNET has consistently assisted Ghanaian authorities – including the Ghana Immigration Service and various embassies – to identify and repatriate individuals who were victims of fraudulent schemes by criminal syndicates operating independently, often misusing QNET’s name.

Criminals Misusing Reputable Brands

As with many multinational companies, QNET’s brand name has been misappropriated by scammers offering fake jobs, scholarships, and overseas travel opportunities. These criminal actors operate outside QNET’s business model and are the subject of ongoing enforcement actions supported by QNET and its partners.

The partnership between QNET, EOCO, and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service reflects a united commitment to combatting these crimes. It is unfortunate that such efforts are being overshadowed by unsubstantiated allegations in Parliament that risk undermining progress.

Education and Awareness: A National Priority

QNET has for years invested in community outreach and media education campaigns across Ghana to counter scam operations. In 2024, the company launched the nationwide “QNET Against Scams” campaign, which ran across radio, TV, social media, and billboards to inform the public of red flags and fraudulent tactics. Building on this, QNET and EOCO are preparing to roll out a nationwide public education roadshow to amplify awareness efforts and reinforce vigilance at the grassroots.

Public Vigilance and Reporting

QNET and EOCO urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities or scams. If the public encounters individuals that are promoting job offers or overseas travel opportunities in the name of QNET, they can report through QNET or EOCO:
