QNET, a global leader in direct selling, has announced an initiative to transform grassroots football in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview, Chief Marketing Officer of QNET, Trevor Kuna, revealed plans to partner with local football clubs, leveraging the company’s sponsorship of Manchester City to bring elite coaching and development opportunities to young Ghanaian players..
“QNET did not just start with football. Our journey in sports sponsorship began with badminton and Formula 1, eventually moving into football through our partnership with Manchester City,” He explained.
“Recognizing Africa as the next frontier, we saw the Confederation of African Football as an ideal platform to establish our brand in Africa. This initiative has been successful, increasing recognition of the QNET name.”
Building on this success, QNET is set to make a significant impact on grassroots football development in Ghana. Following a successful football clinic in Nigeria last year, which saw three certified Manchester City coaches training 26 under-18 football players, QNET is plans to replicate and expand this initiative in Ghana.
“We are in advanced talks with several football clubs in Ghana to explore opportunities for investing in youth sports.” He told JoyNews Editor, Fred Smith in a recent interview in Malaysia. “We believe sports is a fantastic platform to teach young people essential life skills such as leadership, perseverance, and persistence. This initiative will bring Manchester City coaches to Ghana to scout for talented young players, offering them the chance to train in Europe and potentially join major football leagues.”
The involvement of top-tier coaches from one of the world’s leading football clubs will provide young Ghanaian players with unparalleled training and development opportunities. The coaches will not only scout for talent, but also mentor and guide young athletes, helping them reach their full potential.
Mr. Kuna stressed the importance of what he calls the “champion mentality,” focusing on learning from losses and developing resilience – traits crucial, both on and off the field. QNET aims to instill this mentality in young athletes through their grassroots programs.
“QNET has a history of nurturing talent over the past 25 years. We have trained some of the best distributors, network marketers, and direct sellers, instilling in them the right DNA of leadership, courage, discipline, and consistency. We are now applying these principles in the field of sports to nurture the leaders and champions of tomorrow,” He explained.
The programme is set to be launched in the next 12 to 24 months.
