Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has promised the people of Afram Plains to build a bridge over the Afram River if he is elected president of Ghana.
Also, he said, his administration will improve on the road network in the area.
Mr Mahama said this on his Facebook page after commencing his campaign tour of the area on Thursday, November 21.
He said “Crossing the Afram River earlier today to the two Kwahu Afram Plains constituencies. A food basket for our country, I assured the teeming number of expectant youth, the chiefs and people that my administration will not only construct the roads into the area, we will also reactivate our plans to build a bridge over the river.
“The broken down pontoon, that links Afram Plains North to Kpando in the Volta Region, which was commissioned into use by the NDC administration of President JEA Mills, would also be replaced.
“Other initiatives the area will benefit from include the establishment of Farmer Services Centres and agro-processing factories, and provision of critical socio-economic infrastructure including health and educational facilities.”
