Bright Rescue Services, a wholly indigenous Nigerian company, has rolled out a life-changing initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable female students in Junior and Senior High Schools across the country.
The company’s latest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project focuses on providing free sanitary pads to schoolgirls from low-income families — many of whom struggle to afford such essential hygiene products due to financial constraints.
Already, Bright Rescue Services has secured wholesale purchase agreements to acquire high-quality, affordable sanitary pads for distribution. The company has also compiled a database of schools and students most in need of this intervention.
Chief Executive Officer of Bright Rescue Services, lawyer Bright Unwana Victor, explained that the initiative was informed by research conducted within schools, which revealed that many female students miss classes or drop out altogether because they cannot afford sanitary pads.
“Our findings show that this challenge significantly disrupts their academic work and participation in extracurricular activities,” she stated. “In fact, absenteeism linked to a lack of sanitary pads is a leading cause of poor academic performance among girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.”
Victor expressed concern that the issue has yet to receive adequate attention from education policymakers, school administrators, and even philanthropists who support second-cycle education.
“It is a silent crisis affecting countless girls, but it has not been treated as a mainstream challenge,” she lamented.
Bright Rescue Services is now appealing to other socially responsible organizations and corporate bodies to partner with them in scaling up the project. The company is seeking financial and material support to ensure the initiative reaches as many girls as possible.
In return, the company is offering valuable media exposure and positive publicity for partners who contribute to the cause.
“As part of our commitment, we will leverage our strong relationships with the media to ensure that all supporting institutions receive due recognition for their contributions,” Victor assured.
Bright Rescue Services believes this initiative not only provides dignity and comfort to young girls but also offers them a better chance at succeeding academically and breaking the cycle of poverty within their families.
