Rabat – The Kingdom of Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is asserting itself today as “an emerging power” in Africa, thanks to remarkable performances and resolutely modern choices, affirmed the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Akinwumi Adesina.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Adesina stressed that Morocco, engaged in a strong dynamic of transformation, as highlighted in the Speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the glorious Throne Day, surprises by the regularity and consistency of its progress, both economic and social.

Morocco’s strategic positioning is part of a clear and ambitious vision based on an integrated development strategy – economic, social and environmental – which relies on stable governance and considered choices, he said.

He noted that this methodical and determined approach has allowed the Kingdom to establish itself as one of the most advanced nations on the African continent.

“In the wake of its New Development Model, the Kingdom has strengthened its economic fundamentals,” he argued, noting that real sectoral diversification, controlled openness to global markets and a strong foothold in regional and global value chains reflect the emergence of the Moroccan economy.

The industrial revival, particularly in the automotive, aeronautics and renewable energy sectors, illustrates this increase in capacity and range, supported by a very ambitious infrastructure policy and a solid macroeconomic environment, which reinforce the attractiveness of the Kingdom for international investors, according to Mr. Adesina.

“Driven by the vast development projects initiated by His Majesty the King, our relations with the Kingdom continue to strengthen, in order to accompany and support this plural progress for the benefit of the country and the Moroccan people,” he concluded.
