QNET, a global lifestyle and wellness company, has reiterated its commitment to promoting healthy living among Ghanaians as a catalyst for national development.
Speaking at the company’s World Health Day celebration in Accra on Monday, April 7, 2025, the Global Compliance Officer of QNET, Naana Quartey, urged Ghanaians to prioritize their health and well-being through regular exercise, proper nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices.
She stressed that good health goes beyond the mere absence of diseases such as malaria or tuberculosis, and includes vitality, energy, and a holistic sense of wellness.
“Being healthy enables individuals to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Ms. Quartey stated.
She disclosed that for the past five years, QNET has been actively involved in World Health Day celebrations in Ghana, championing health and fitness initiatives to encourage physical activity and overall wellness within communities.
Clarifying Scam Allegations
Addressing recent media reports about scams involving fraudulent job offers and travel opportunities allegedly linked to QNET, Ms. Quartey clarified that the company does not offer jobs or travel packages.
“QNET operates a direct-selling business model, which allows individuals to earn an income by promoting and selling our products remotely,” she explained.
She urged victims of such scams to contact QNET for legal support in taking action against fraudsters, emphasizing the company’s commitment to protecting its customers from exploitation.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that the public is not misled by scammers using QNET’s name,” she affirmed.
Nutrition Expert Highlights Benefits of Nutraceuticals
As part of the event, Dr. Frank Marful-Sau, a dietician at the Nyaho Medical Centre, delivered a presentation on the topic “Smart Nutrition for a Healthier Life — The Role of Nutraceuticals.”
He highlighted the growing importance of nutraceuticals — products derived from food sources that provide additional health benefits beyond basic nutrition. These include dietary fibers, probiotics, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), antioxidants, and plant-based supplements.
He explained that nutraceuticals combine the properties of nutrition and pharmaceuticals, and when used appropriately under medical guidance, they can complement traditional medicines in promoting overall wellness.
“Nutraceuticals are rich in essential nutrients and health substances that play a critical role in maintaining gut health, boosting immunity, and preventing diseases,” he stated.
Key Takeaways from Dr. Marful-Sau’s Presentation
Understanding Nutraceuticals and Natural Health Products

- They come in various forms such as supplements, beverages, and herbal extracts.
Importance of Fiber in Diet
- Soluble fiber, found in beans, onions, and leafy vegetables, supports heart health and helps regulate blood sugar.
- Insoluble fiber aids digestion and prevents harmful substances from entering the bloodstream.
Role of Probiotics and Prebiotics
- Probiotics like Lactobacillus support gut health.
- Prebiotics provide nourishment for probiotics and maintain a healthy gut environment.
Benefits of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs)
- Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids from sources like flax seeds, walnuts, and soybeans help reduce inflammation and improve heart health.
Polyphenols and Phytochemicals
- Found in foods like garlic and onions, these compounds provide antioxidant properties and health benefits.
Future Prospects of Nutraceuticals
- Nutraceuticals have the potential to complement or even replace certain traditional medicines in the future, especially as health monitoring technologies advance.
- Regulatory oversight, proper labeling, and quality control are essential for consumer safety.
