Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder, Baba Yahaya, has stated that Kotoko’s failure to win the 2023-2024 Ghana Premier League season because of the “relaxed” approach by players.
He said this in an interview with Kotoko’s media after the season’s conclusion that had the Porcupine Warriors finish sixth in the 18 team league standings.
Kotoko recorded 49 points at the end of the campaign and missed out on a second-place finish by two points with champions FC Samartex 1996 recording 61 points.
After seeing Kotoko miss out on a top four finish, the former King Faisal FC player was disappointed with the former’s performance in the immediate past campaign, and he put it on the playing body.
“We failed to win the league because most of us (players) relaxed after arriving at Kotoko” he stated and added “I didn’t live up to expectations of supporters because personally, I know what I can do but I hope from the second season onwards, I will live up to the expectations.”
The 22 year old played 25 league games this past season and registered two goals and five assists in his debut season.
